Image](/assets/hero_images/_1600x800_crop_top-center_75_none/Fine-Iacona-1981-Hero-Image.jpg) Jud Fine Iacona, 1981 Description RECEPTION FOR THE ARTIST: MAY 30 5:30 – 7:00 Jud Fine uses architecture as a metaphor for navigation which in turn becomes a metaphor for problem solving. He refers to archaic architectural archetypes such as East Asian grass bundles and stone circles of prehistoric Britain. Other references include Polonesian navigational systems, celestial navigation, and Space Frames – a way of navigating a span between two posts. This exhibition of recent work by Jud Fine consists of 3 installation pieces and two large drawings. *Horizontal Pillar* is a bound hay tube with a steel cone which spans the 110 foot diagonal of the main gallery. A second installation presents 40 wire tubes stuffed with hay which are connected by 1/4" steel rods. The third piece consists of 40 steel and wire hexagonal poles connected with bamboo. The two watercolors, *Shime/Stone #2* and *Tertiary # 1*, include text and measure 60" x 160" and 40" x 120" respectively.
