17](/assets/hero_images/_1600x800_crop_top-center_75_none/Wexler-Sukkah-With-Furniture-Projections-1988_Hero-Image_17.jpg) Allan Wexler Sukkah With Furniture Projections, 1988 Description Allan Wexler will exhibit models, furniture, photographs and drawings of recent work and works in progress from 1985-1988. Wexler's work transcends the boundaries which can define our perception of the common chair or table. In Chair-A-Day, Wexler spontaneously constructed one chair per day for 15 days, beginning each day/chair with fresh thoughts. The use of unexpected materials is frequently seen in Wexler's work. Asphalt floor tiles appear on a kitchen table top; scaffolding material comprises a dining set. The unusual combination of materials can be seen in Dining Set of Four Hardwoods which incorporates hardwoods from four distant lands to form a microcosm in a table. Wexler toys with stereotypes of space as well. The full-scale *Little Office Building #2* appears to be a self-contained, indoor "out building" with all the necessary elements of an office. Upon further inspection, it becomes evident that the walls slide to open the office "inside-out" to form a screen-like office unit. Also on view will be photographs of completed projects, drawings and models including *Proposals for the Typical House* which consists of 68 altered photocopies of the plan of a typical suburban house, plus models of 25 of the proposals.
