2 People Connected Together Through the Hollows of a Table, 1990

Description

Artist and architect Allan Wexler will exhibit recent projects in which he employs architecture to ritualize everyday activities, in effect, choreographing human movements as dancers in a performance.

Crate Houses consists of four individually crated fully equipped rooms – a kitchen living room, bedroom and bathroom. Each crate can be wheeled into a 7-1/2- foot square "shell" and when opened, its contents expands to occupy the space. Crate Houses was commissioned by the University Gallery/University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
