Diemut Strebe MIT Engineers Develop “Blackest Black” Material

The cloak-like material is made from vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs)—microscopic filaments of carbon (described as “a fuzzy forest of tiny trees”) grown on the surface of chlorine-etched aluminum foil.

That foil captures at least 99.995 percent of any incoming light.

It’s hard to imagine what the blackest black looks like.
