Brian Knep created his collection “Traces/Worms” (seen at the top of this article) while he was artist-in-residence at Harvard Medical School. “C. elegans are beautiful, complex and lovely,” says Knep. For him, the worm changed his life through more than art alone. He met his wife, Natalie Andrew, during his time at Harvard. “She was a biology postdoc, I was an artist-in-residence, and her work on microfluidics and cancer cells got me thinking about making microscopic sculptures for the worms.”
