The ADAA Art Show: Brodsky & Utkin

Brodsky & Utkin

Mar 03 – Mar 07, 2015

Brodsky & Utkin

Still Life, 1989

Description

Ronald Feldman Fine Arts will exhibit etchings and sculpture from 1990 by the Russian collaborative team Brodsky & Utkin. Alexander Brodsky and Ilya Utkin worked together in Moscow as “paper architects” in the early 80’s as part of a loosely organized group of Soviet artists. Their fantastical visions, depicting outlandish, often impossible buildings and cityscapes, won numerous international competitions. In 1990, Ronald Feldman Fine Arts published Projects, a portfolio of thirty-five artists’ etchings based on these drawings and included in their first New York exhibition. The booth at The Art Show revisits that era when Soviet artists were able to exhibit free of government control under Perestroika and is timed to a revival of interest in artists from that historical time.
