Il disastro ha colpito meno di un mese prima dell’apertura dell’Armory Show, quando gli ispettori del comune di NY hanno dichiarato che il Pier 92 era strutturalmente inadatto per il montaggio di Volta, la fiera gemella dell’Armory. Con alcune manovre rapide, il vicino Pier 90 è stato assicurato, opuscoli e mappe sono stati ristampati e la 25a edizione dell’Armory Show ha preso dunque il via.

The disaster struck less than a month before the opening of the Armory Show, when inspectors from the city of NY declared that Pier 92 was structurally unsuitable for the assembly of Volta, the Armory's twin fair. With some rapid maneuvers, the nearby Pier 90 has been secured, brochures and maps have been reprinted and the 25th Armory Show has therefore started.
